Chronic Pain Necklace

Chronic Pain Necklace
I have been suffering with POTS and Fibromyalgia for over 15 years. Fibro is a chronic condition that makes life hellish if I am truly being honest. I wake up every day in pain, I am almost always fatigued, I deal with so many migraines/infections, and brain fog… just to name a few symptoms.
I thought my life was over, because so many of my favorite things in life had to be stopped but thankfully I was able to keep smithing, but definitely at a slower pace.
I wanted to create a collection that portrayed how my body felt, but for so many years, I felt like I couldn't do it. I still felt so raw and that it was too personal to share.
As I have grappled with the fact that yes I am disabled, and that is ok, I found myself ready to make this collection.
Chronic Pain- depicts the sadness and depression that comes with waking everyday in pain. This piece includes an opal tear, an antique glass eye from early 1900's, and a handmade sterling silver setting. I am extra fond of the eyebag that I had to include.
I do sometimes struggle to write my experience with words, it comes more naturally to speak through metal. I hope this piece resonates with you.
If you live your life in pain, whether physical or mental, you are not alone.
Sterling silver rolo chain measures 16 inches.
